Step by Step Resume

What is a resume?

A resume is a professional document that includes a summary and listing of job experience and applicable education to the desired career.

This is usually the first item that a potential employer or business looks at while searching for potential employees. The resume is used in nearly every business and employment setting to determine the best qualified candidates of a job tract.

Step-By-Step resume

Resume are rather simple to lay out. They require several fields that most employers are the most interested in as well as several fields that the resume writer finds to be the most relevant to the job.

Step One:

Name and information- the first thing that should be at the top of the resume is the applicant’s name followed directly below with the address and phone number of the applicant. If applicable, many employers like to have an email address for quick contact, this would go below the phone number.

Step Two:

Objective- employers also like to know the goal of potential employees. After the personal information, an objective should be written to clue employers in on what the potential employee wishes to accomplish. A brief, easily understood statement is critical because this sets the tone for the entire résumé.

Step Three:

Education and Skills- The next field is basically the qualifications. Here, employers are interested to see what the potential employee is capable of doing and what kind of training he or she has received to those ends. Degrees and certifications should be listed here, as well as other qualifications and degrees in progress.

Step Four:

Experience- Many employers are more interested in employees that have done similar work before. In the experience tab past jobs and employments should be listed to show employers what the potential employee has done before and how it pertains to the job being applied for.

Step Five:

Applicable and optional information- In this field, potential employees should include any additional information that might be applicable or of interest to the employer. Information such as current and past activities, interests, or references. These things are equally important on a resume but not vital. A basic resume should include steps one through four, and if necessary or if one believes that an employer is interested, then step five should also be included.
